Media player not working

Believe it or not, the stupid media player quit working. I got it to play one song, and finally another, but when I created an unsaved playlist and then named it, it started giving me crap about how it couldn't play songs. I also downloaded a video which played ok except for no sound. Microsoft was of course no help. I have the volume all the way up, but nothing, What do I do now?

Do you mean the windows media player or are you talking about your mobile device? Use VLC media player and test the audio with it, since VLC is available on both Android and Windows I am sure you can give it a try.

I mean windows, nothing really portable. I do have VLC. Of course now windows seems to be working, sort of, anyway. How do I get VLC to handle it instead?
