Hi guys, I think I've finally gotten the hang of MediaMonkey, but I'm running into a problem transferring videos to my Samsung Note 4. I'm trying to transfer some AVI files, but MMW says it's an unsupported format. However, I know this isn't true, since the videos transfer and play just fine via drag-and-drop; the only annoyance is that they don't stay organized by series, episode number, season, playlist, etc. Does anyone know a way around this?
Thanks.

Hi guys, does anyone know a way to keep the ID3 tags after a video has been transferred? On a PC, I'm able to keep all the episodes of a TV series organized by season, but when I transfer them over, I can only view them by title (out of sequential order). I've reorganized the files in folders or playlists to keep the seasons separate, but it's a tedious process that leaves my media player in a state of disarray. Is it possible to keep the season and episode numbers in check, so I don't have to manually reorganize? Also, is there a media player that allows me to view my video library like this?

Basically, I'd like something like this:

Video
>>>Movies
>>>>>Genre
>>>>>Director
>>>>>etc
>>>TV Shows
>>>>>Season

Kinda like Netflix, or any music player.

Try something like VLC on the Samsung. That can read and organize embedded metadata within the videos, the player you're using at the moment apparently doesn't, it only reads filenames. Also if you've got "unsupported format" that's a codec issue with the AVIs and the particular media software you're using. The encoding isn't supported, AVI is only a container. Again try VLC, that can play very much anything, as long as it's not locked with DRM, e.g. Netflix downloads.

Thanks, Mike. I tried VLC, but there's still no way to browse shows by season. Like I said, I can keep the files organized in folders or playlists, and name them by episode number, so I can play them in order. But it would be nice if there was a video player that would let me choose a series, followed by season; it's probably the only thing Apple got right with its own video player. On the plus side, I figured out how to preserve the metadata in the files.

One issue I had with MMW is that I could tag the files by season and episode number, and the tags would still be there after I transferred the files over. However, once I put them in folders to keep the seasons separate, they'd disappear. But I've figured out how to automatically organize them and keep the metadata in place:

First, you need to configure how MM syncs different media types with your device. You'll need to do this for all drives that you store media on. So if you have a tablet and a smartphone with a MicroSD card, you'll need to configure both device's built in storage and the MicroSD card. Click your device from the sidebar to bring up the Summary page.

Next, click the Options tab. On the left, click File Locations.

Then, you need to configure each type of media file. MM can store different types of content in different directories on your device. For TV shows (make sure the files are tagged as TV), click the Configure button next to the TV address bar.

By default, TV episodes are stored in \Video\TV. Click the tab next to Subdirectories to include <Series>\<Season#>. Choose data fields for Filename (ie <Epidsode#> <Title>). Save and sync.

Voila! Now when you transfer a properly tagged TV series over, the episodes will be organized in season folders under the title subfolder in the TV directory. For example:

\Video
>>\TV
>>>>\Seinfeld
>>>>>>\7
>>>>>>>>\06 The Soup Nazi.

Success! After a bit of research, I installed Mizuu, and it's exactly what I wanted. I'll post a tutorial tonight for anyone else with this problem.
