Accessories MEEP! kids' tablet accessories with normal Android

I bought a MEEP piano and MEEP drums, second-hand. They use mini USB, but I bought a Micro USB adapter to plug them into my tab.

Is it possible to use these without the MEEP tablet? If so, how? Are there any apps compatible with them?
 
I believe these things are proprietary to Oregon Scientific's MEEP tablets only. And so a developer would need to reverse engineer them, understand their protocols, and then make an app.
 
Which is by no means a trivial undertaking, it's anything from a couple of month's effort to 'How long have you got'.
