MEID is clear but cricket says acct connected to MEID

I just bought a Kyocera Hydro and when I tried to activate it on Cricket they said that my MEID number is connected to an account and I need the Passcode to disconnect it. I looked online and it shows a clean MEID number and now I am totally confused.
