MELE A1000 + FTDI driver.

Greetings folks!

Since a few days, I have been a lot into google but am completely blank on where to start.

I need to interface hardware with the mele box through USB to serial converters.

I have a FTDI FT232RL chip and a prolific USB to serial cable too. Upon googling, I could figure out that I need to install ftdi_sio.ko file on to the right place.

I tried "insmod" command and a few other vague possibilities without a clear step by step approach.

It would be nice if you guys here post any tutorial on how to install the driver.

P.S: Some say that to install the driver, you need to install a custom kernel, (choose the correct kernel, I dont know how to do that.) If so, is'nt it something like reinstalling the OS just for the sake of a driver, which is not user friendly?

Please guide me friends...

Edit: I have seen This post and I did not understand anything.
