Menu button on HTC One XL

Hey forumers,

I have an annoying issue with Go Launcher on my HTC One XL.

When I load in from my unlock screen (Widget Locker - an issue on its own), Go Launcher loads the Home screen, and because HTC decided to get rid of the menu button on this phone, it's on the screen, and it takes an extra second or two to load.

I filmed it to show you:
Go Launcher on HTC One XL - YouTube

It's very annoying because I am about to press a shortcut and it moves on me. I understand that the option to assign the task button to be the menu button will be available in Jellybean and/or cyanogenmod 10, but I am not ready to root, because I don't know if the Telstra One XL is supported and I've only ever rooted once before.

Meanwhile, is there a non-rooted way to remove this and other awful lags with go launcher???

Much appreciation
:)

i had this issue with another launcher over sense (on an inspire). from what i could gather, it was a resizing issue, and although it was a little annoying, it wasn't causing any real pain.

It's the way non ICS launchers are implemented on ICS Handsets unfortunately. On a non rooted handset, the 3 Dot thin wasn't there when I used Apex Launcher or Nova, so without root, that's your only option I'm afraid.

Fwiw, I know there's a test update for the Tegra 3 One X which gives you the ability to remap the recent apps button to menu and there are some ROMs based on it. Not sure when/if it will go into production and/or the XL will get a similar update, but it shows HTC are aware it's an issue and they are giving options to fix.

Thanks guys.

Yeah I can see how some people wouldn't be bothered by it, but that's just me! Sometimes it does take quite a while if I've got a lot running..

I'll give those other ones a try El Presidente.
Is anybody aware of any roms available for this phone?

It's a great phone with great potential, its just a shame that Sense stands in the way
