Mesmerize Camera

So I'm not sure this is the right place to ask, but is has to do with my Mesmerize's camera. A well known complaint about this new Galaxy S phone is one that I find really inconvenient: No dedicated camera shutter button.

Does anyone know of a way to re-assign the lock button to be a shutter button ONLY when the camera is being used? My phone is rooted.

I'd love to use a real button aswell. Hope someone figures it out
