Help mesmerize not receiving picture messages

BoppinMidge

Newbie
sorry to make topics about my phone not working, but both of the mesmerize phones ive had dont receive picture messages. my original one, prior to it breaking, could receive them then it stopped. and the new one never could. anyone?

Yeah I have notice a friend... trying to send me pictures. She will randomly send a text like, "thanks for responding to my pictures I sent you this morning". I told her "if I got pictures from you, I would have responded" haha.

Anyways, she will send them again and they will work. I guess I don't get it either. I wonder if its something to do with the sender ONLY sending a picture or adding caption to the picture as well.

Either way, we need to receive pictures when "friends" send them!

well i took the phone in to see if it was that, and well i got my 3rd mesmerize (long story) and it worked again, with the stock app. i installed handcent again, as they were blaming handcent, and it sent pics fine. then i updated to 3.4.5 and thats when it stopped sending or receiving. im flashing the phone back to stock in a few days when i have some time, and hopefully that will work.

what is handcent? I have had my phone for two weeks and I have had some problems receiving photos in a text. I can get them in email as long as they are attached.

Reviving and old thread... sorry!

I've had my Mez for 2 months now and I've only received one picture message (with no accompanying text... dunno if that makes a difference or not). However, my b/f is constantly trying to send me pictures (i.e. when he's out shopping and wants to know my opinion on something) but I NEVER get them. Any ideas?

I'm using the stock messaging app.

My wife and I both have this problem. I haven't come across any fix yet. Although my wifes seems to be working now with no apparent fix performed on her phone. She did call uscc cellular and got some trouble shooting but still had the problem after that. Within the last 2 months Her's appears to have fixed itself. Mine on the other hand is still not working.

The problem is most likely somewhere on the USCC side. You'll just have to be patient and persistent with their Tech support and get the account provisioned properly.

We have 5 people in my office using a Mez, none of them have had issues (including me) with MMS. A mix of stock and rooted users in our group.

I had a similar problem - I couldn't send or receive MMS messages. I discovered that an app (Juice Defender) would not allow me to send or receive MMS. I had to temporarily disable the app to send and/or receive MMS.

Hope this helps if and of you are using the app.

I uninstalled juice defender and so far not had any issues with mms.

Well I saw this thread got revived after having not visited the site in months, my phone still has the issue but I can now at least send mms. On occasion at least. Its about a 15% chance it'll work. Still can't receive though.

Assuming you're enjoying the features and extra battery life with JuiceDefender, you don't actually have to uninstall it. When you pull up the app, there are buttons to enable/disable the app. Just disable it right before sending or trying to download a received MMS, and re-enable it when you're done.

Thanks for the tip, although I was using the free version and didn't have that option to my knowledge. I am now trying green power free, And as my latest post shows, I had a mms not come thru. My guess is this has to be a carrier problem but I'm not sure.

That would be the best guess right now. Especially if you haven't called US Cellular to have them look at your account.

Try this- I have done this for myself as well as a couple customers. Go into settings<wireless connections<airplane mode. Keep it on airplane mode for 30 seconds. Repeat the process after 30 seconds and turn it off. Turn the phone off and on and try to send a pic message. If this doesn't work i have a couple other ideas as well.

Something I've noticed recently is that I can't seem to get picture messages with WiFi on. Turning it off and using 3g and then touching the download button again seems to be doing the trick.

I was having this problem lately and I fixed it. I went to my message settings and deselected the auto retrieve. I then went to a pic message and clicked on download and it worked.
