I am using the message app that is bundled with the phone. Is it me or is the functionality of this app reduced? For instance, I cannot work out a way to 'Lock' a text and there is no mention of it in the manual. Is this the same as an old 'secure' message? I was a bit annoyed that all my secure messages were not ported over from my old phone to be honest.

1. Locked messages are well, locked. Would make sense they won't be ported unless you unlocked.
2. Not sure what device you come from, but locking messages has long since been available under the popup menu when you long press a message. Just checked on my S7Edge and the option to lock is there.

Is there a messaging (GSM SMS) app which keeps retrying until there is a signal?
I use an app called Messages which does this, but keeps crashing. I use it on the S6 and the S7 and it is the "least bad" option. The othes I have tried all give up permanently after a few tries.

None that I know of that does it automatically.
Next time however I suggest you do not hijack somebody else's thread with your own problem which is different from the original issue.
