Messages not showing a name

Is it possible to just have the name of the person that has txt you appear when you receive a message rather than having to have a preview of the message. I can only find that way or the way where it will say 'message' but not who from

I believe this is possible with some of the apps in the Play Store, such as chompsms or go SMS. Have you tried these yet?
