Messaging deleting all messages

I have a Huawei Android with version 2.1 installed. I have only added 3 apps to the stock ones and made sure they were all not running to be sure they weren't affecting this problem. Which is: all of a sudden about a week ago it started deleting all messages. You see a notification about an incoming text, then open it and there is nothing there. If you write a new message and press "send" you see the message thread for a split second then it's gone.

I tried freeing up space on the SD card and it has at least a GB free.

Having such unreliability and risk to my data is simply unacceptable. I need to use SMS in my work and it's robbed me of that so if I don't solve this soon I will sell it and get an iPhone.

I don't want to do a hard reset thank you. Can I uninstall the stock Messaging and install one that works reliably?

Nope...stock app stays unless you root the phone. Even then id imagine you would need the native messaging app, or a version of it. Reset it
