Messaging on samsung J5

does anyone have any idea how to send a whatsapp message on a samsung J5 marshmallow phone to an unsaved number.... cant find the answer anywhere ... driving me nuts

I believe both parties need to have snap chat in order to send
 
???? snapchat? why? before on other ios you could just select message and then select which type sms whatsapp telegram whatever why would I need snapchat to send a text message??? Im not loading another worthless app on my phone... :(
 
That was a typo: he meant WhatsApp but mixed up his messaging apps. I sometimes do that while talking - the names WhatsApp and SnapChat have the same rythmn and are both messaging apps (albeit different in what they do) so I sometimes cross the names.

If you know the number then if you can't just type it in to WhatsApp (I don't have my phone to check at the moment) then surely adding it to your contacts is the quickest solution. If you don't know the number I don't see how you would send a message anyway.

the whole reason for the question was because I dont want to add everyone who I message, one might be a window cleaner that I want a quote from or another someone who is on holiday and wants to come on one walk.... as I said before I dont want to add I just need to message and is there any way to do it now like before :)
 
I've only used WhatsApp on one device, and only for a few months. I don't see a way to directly enter a phone number when choosing recipients (which really would mean asking WhatsApp to search to see whether there was an account associated to that number - it's not at all like SMS in how it works).

That's just the way WhatsApp have written their interface. Nothing to do with Android or Samsung, you need to ask WhatsApp if you want something changed.
