Messaging/Text programs/apps for phone and pc

I currently use Viber which is screwed up beyond reason. I think they are hacking my pc as well, as I had over 200 pictures loaded into my Viber folder that are not mine. That, and a never ending string of problems that they won't even acknowledge.


I need to find a better, safer, free text/messaging app that I can have on my Android phone as well as my pc. Something that actually works right.


Does anything like that exist?

Google Voice. You can do so much with it or just keep it simple and text.

I use it as a second phone number for non-family/friends, voicemail and texting. I've been using it forever and think it's great.
