"Messenger has been detected using screen overlay"

Hi folks

Every time I get a Facebook message, I get a notification telling me that "Messenger has been detected using screen overlay" - happens with a few other apps too.

I know what screen overlay is, but I'm just not interested in seeing a notification about it EVERY time I get a message. Is there a way to stop Android telling me?

Andy

You can disable this app by app, I do not know a way to do this for all at once, but there are only a few apps, so it should be easy enough - see attached screenshots. BTY, I am on a Note 9, but the steps should be the same.

1. Pull down your notification bar when you see the warning
2. Press on the "Android Permission Monitor" notification and while still pressing on the notification slide your finger to the left a little; a gear and little bell with a clock icon will be displayed.
3. Click on the gear
4. Find "Messenger displaying over oth..." and toggle this off

You can also
1. Go into settings
2. Select Apps
3. Click the 3 verticle dots at top and click "Show system apps"
4. Find and click on "Android System"
5. Click on "Notifications"
6. Disable any/all toggles under the group "DISPLAY OVER OTHER APPS"
