Messenger - no notifications or chat heads

Last night messenger stopped showing any notifications. I re-installed tehe app a couple of times, even downgraded to older releases, rebooted, I even did a FACTORY RESET... Nothing! The notifications are not there...

WTF is going on? I am absolutely puzzled over this - is this a problem with the phone? whatsapp or any other notifications work....

Exactly what messenger app did you install? The link you have there points to Android Central's Home page.

Sorry, did not mean to add any links - I installed different messenger versions from http://facebook-messenger.en.uptodown.com/android/old - nothing worked...

I'm not familiar with FB messenger, but have you tried the PlayStore version?:

Also, it appears the app just updated yesterday (according to the PlayStore info), so perhaps it's the app that is the issue.
But that doesn't answer why the older versions are not working

I'm sure you've messed with the notification settings within the app?

Yes, I have the newest installed now. I tried all permutations of settings within the app, NOTHING

It may have been an update to Facebook, which in turn is effecting Messenger.

I had to revert to an older version of Facebook because saving photo option was broken.
