Messenger not working

Has anyone else had any issues with messenger home page not loading?  I am also unable to receive messages in the app.  This issue only is a problem on my S8, which is brand new.  Unfortunately, it is a carry over issue from my S6, which I just swapped out this weekend.
The issue started on the S6 about a week ago, and after many uninstalls/reinstalls, a reboot, cache clearing, and now a new phone, nothing has resolved this.
The app works perfectly fine on my work iPhone. 
I have sent 5 unanswered messages to facebook, and emails the app support, which has also gone with out a response.

Hmm, just a theory, but if this problem is spanning phones then I guess the issue is either in the app or it's settings (which I assume that you copied across).

Given that you have certainly have checked the settings, I would try to load an older version of the app from http://www.apkmirror.com

Thanks so much Eric.  I've tried that too, and they all have the exact same issue.  I've even uninstalled and have tried several versions, with no luck.  I checked and rechecked all of my settings against my iPhone (where the app works perfectly), and they are all the same.  This is maddening!!!  My iPhone is a work device and I don't use it often. 
Appreciate the effort.
