Metal battery cover

I've been eying these as well... Though I'm thinking I'll wait until I actually have the phone and decide if I want it bad enough. Preordered a pebble blue and depending how it looks, I think it could look pretty slick with a black & chrome edge back cover.

Anyone look at the description? #7. Only Fit for Samsung Galaxy SIII S3 i9300. Is the US verison is really different?

So I found this nice battery for the S3 on ebay

METAL BATTERY COVER Housing Case for Samsung Galaxy SIII S 3 i9300 White Frame | eBay

It says the back is plastic and the metal is just superficially on top so it shouldn't interfere with the antenna or mess up signal strength right?
Looks like the aluminum is just a stick on decal. I'd have to see in person.

Externally, they are supposed to be identical, but the international version has a different code from the N American version. Canada and US share the same versions.

GT-I9300 = international version

SGH-i747 = N American LTE variant (bell, roger, telus, at&t)

SGH-T999 = N American (tmobile, wind, mobilecity, videotron, verizon)

I was definitely getting one of those cases, but someone on XDA who bought a UUnique metal-back case says it pooches NFC. No idea how it affects other signals though.

just purchased this one

Uunique Metallic Case For Samsung Galaxy S3 - Pebble Blue

delivered today and very happy, not noticed any difference when using wireless. So I have a white SG3 in a Pebble Blue case. yay!

That was my very first favourite. :) Congrats!

I contacted them a few weeks ago and they said they'll eventually bring out a black version, so I'm going to hold off for now.

Have you been able to confirm whether or not NFC communication is affected? I heard it doesn't work with that case/similar cases on.

i've not tried NFC tbh. Don't really feel the need have Barclaycard Tag sat on table at home and haven't tried that yet. Pay with good ole cash and cards, still stuck in the dark ages by the sounds of it. lol.

:)

I'm more concerned with the effect these cases/covers may have on WiFi/Data/phone radio signals though. Please keep us posted if you notice anything.

Verizon is SCH-I535 and Sprint's is SPH-L710.
