Metro PCS No longer in Illinois

I'm a resident in an suburb outside of Chicago Illinois.
I did lots of research in no contract phones.
While on the website, a customer service employee invited me to chat
and told me that Metro PCS was no longer activating service for Illinois residents.
When I called customer service a woman told me no we are still activating phones in Illinois.
But when I went to buy a phone, the address section did not include Illinois as a state.
Can't believe Metro would exclude all of Illinois but then I realize that TMobile probably wants Illinois for itself.
Did anyone know about this?

MetroPCS was never in Illinois in the 1st place? It's always been an extended home area, the closest market pre-merger was Detroit. However if you bring a GSM device there it'll work like native coverage.

If you are in a great tmobile area order a metro phone and activate there good chance that metro stores are in short supply
