Metro PCS/T-Mobile merger.

I keep hearing about this merger and my only question is after this merger is over will we be able to use our S3's? my friend keeps telling me after this merger is done that our S3's will be "useless" and we will have to buy new phones. I find it to be pure bulls**t since many of us bought this phone a few months ago and why would Metro give us the S3 just for it to become "useless" after this merger. Can anyone who is inform, please shead some light on this for me.

Thank you.

T-mobile does have plans to shut Metros cdma network down but that wont happen until at least 2015. By that time most people will have upgraded phones.
Metros lte runs on aws so both networks will be compatible for lte. As far as voice calling goes some say some of metros phones such as the GS3 are both cdma and gsm compatible. I know on other networks this is the case so I dont see an issue with the GS3 unless the phone isnt also gsm compatible. They have sim slots though so imo I think with a simple update it can be if they arent already.

Ok, so us S3 owners don't have much to worry about?

Nope I wouldnt worry about anything. Everything will remain as it is at least until 2015 and even by then the phone should work. I forgot to mention but I read an article awhile back about the head tech. guy at Metro said himself they are working on things to make it where current phones will work so that again tells me these phones are cdma and gsm compatible and all it will take is a firmware update.
