Metro PCS

Ok... Sorry if this has been asked and answered ,but my HTC EVO 3D is just about shot, and its hard to look around. So heres my question: Metro is now accepting ANY GSM phone as long as its unlocked. They just give you a sim card... I dont want to buy a Metro phone because they are not built well. If I use as Metro sim on a non-metro phone, will it lock certian services, aka Talk to text and stuff like that, that you get free when you flash your phone? Im thinking of getting a Samsung s3 because I like the big screen. If its better to flash should I look for one thats factory unlocked, or just get it unlocked when I get it flashed(or do I need to unlock it when its flashed). I guess Im asking if its better to use Metros sim casrd or just get it flashed. Thanks in advance to everyone who answers!

I'm not sure what you mean about Metro's phones not being built well. Their Samsung S3 and S4 are the same ones that are sold by T-Mobile. If you are talking about the Huawei phones, I'd say that's just that brand and really had nothing to do with Metro.

In order to put the GSM phone on Metro, you will need to buy a Metro SIM card.

That I get, but will using Metros card lock features. Now on my Evo 3d that I hasd flashed, I have Metro features that they charge for, but I dont have to pay.

Im not sure how to explane... You pay 40 for basic services... If you want talk to text, and mobile hotspot, you pay extra... But with my flashed phone, my hot spots, and gps were rooted, so I dont have to pay...

I can do speech to text. That's an aspect of android, not Metro. Some folks use hot spot with or with out rooting. GPS also has nothing to do with Metro.

When you or someone you paid flashed your phone, the esn was put in Metro's inventory. That's what MetroFlash used to do. And that was only supposed to get you talk and text. Either you or the person who flashed it for you used programs like QPST to get into the phone's software and change the setting to get internet. The had to be already rooted to get these results. Now I'm not sure exactly the process of using a sim card but it is not the same as a flash. Also some of the feature you mentioned were "unlocked" by the ROM you had. The EVO and EVO3d had a lot of development so that's probably why you had things working.

Now I just need to find a good phone. I heard a rumor that T-mobile is going to pricematch Metro for Metro customers. Gonna see if its true, cause if it is that will make it eaiser to decide on a phone.lol

If you EVER think you're going to tether, that makes exactly ZERO sense.

It appears the T-Mo branded phones are much more difficult to tether, perhaps impossible to, without rooting and more complicated to even then.

All the decent phones that both companies sell have the Best prices already at Metro.
