Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] 4.4 Update???

Will MPCS/CDMA phones be able to update to Android 4.4 Kit Kat in the near future?

If so I may stay with my current device.

keep in mind aosp does not currently support nor have any plans to support metro's VoLTE so while you may get a taste of 4.4 with cm/PA/Omni etc, when the cdma network begins shutting down youll have to be on touchwiz to continue to use your device.

So if I'm on #2 it would be possible?

well, assuming you are on a version that supports it all when the cdma network shuts down yes.

side note nov 6th is when sprint gets their 4.3 update, tmobile gets theirs like nov 15th (so the guys with teh gsm sgs3 wont be far behind). so luckily you guys can all be relaxing and enjoying a nice new 4.3 tw based roms soon enough :)

Long time lurker, first time poster. Shabby, thanks for all you do for this community.

So the logic here, if I'm on Metro and I'd like to stay to the bitter end of Metro's assimilation into T-Mobile would be this: Buy a phone that can still be activated under a Metro account but will continue to work when the CDMA begins to shut off (for resale value). I've read a lot of sources about this to plan my next move but still not sure on the facts.

I have a SGS3 CDMA/LTE now, would like to upgrade to N5 in hopes to keep it under Metro but also not worry about the transition to t-mobile. Assuming all the leaks are somewhat correct with the device band support, I should be fine.

God damn you, new technology...

well the n5 would be on tmobiles network and be GSM. from what ive heard its been a rather mixed bag about things, some claim cdma overall will shut down and they will offer gsm devices to try and get people to upgrade. some claim they will let you use VoLTE like they announced when they started to sell the connect 4g.

as it stands, one of teh sources i have told me there is plans for a few new devices (mega 6.3 and some yet known waterproof kyocera device) as well as making sure all of metro's cdma coverage is over lapped with tmobile's gsm (aka metropcs gsm) so that users can transition better. all of that should be within the next month or so.

regardless you cnat go wrong with the N5, specwise its a top contender and pricewise it cant be touched (i plan on snagging one u p myself prolly around tax time)

k so when the cdma start to shut down Im going to have to switch phones in the near future. I dont like to buy new phones I have the S3 and was going to get the S$ but that seems its pointless cause we wont be able to use it then. Have they said which phones thats on metro will still be able to use when the shut it down. In word of the S5 will that be able to trans it when cdma shuts?

the s4 is gsm, they even made a gsm s3. but you can prolly use a note 4 or sgs6 by the time cdma shuts off.

Yep that n5 is getting my attention imma get one

Just ordered mine today, can't wait to get. Didn't really want to buy a new phone, had planned on keeping my S3 for awhile but with CDMA eventually going away, decided to make my move. I will miss this forum though, everyone has been awesome!!

Psh... nexus 5?... countdown to nexus 6 for me :D... seriously though everyone who's moving from metro s3 to nexus 5 have fun!...
