Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] Icon Alerts

Do anyone know of a app that will give me alerts when I have a voice mail or calendar alert waiting? I use AOSP type roms and I don't get alerts and for example Saturday I had 8 voice mails but I didn't know till I reset my phone because there never is any icons on my status bar.

don't know of any apps for that. some launchers do that like go launcher. I'm on deviant for a while now, & I always get a voicemail icon. which is the main rom you use?
