Root [MetroPCS/CDMA] No Signal

Guys I need help. My galaxyS3 doesn't have any signal after I put liquidsmooth on it.
  • I have Liquidsmooth v3.2
  • My model number is SCH-R530M
  • In the status menu it says Network:Unknown (Same with My Phone Number, MIN, PRL, MEID, IMEI and ICCID)
  • Mobile Network State: Disconnected.

Any help would be appreciated.

Post over where you got the ROM. Try their g+ page. Or in the right sub forum for your carrier. You'll get better responses.
Is that the metropcs one? Did you flash the right build for your specific model and carrier? Metro has 2 s3's.
I think that's the CDMA model right? Hopefully you didn't flash the gsm build.

Yes this is the metropcs one and I flashed the d2lte/unified version. Sorry I don't know what CDMA or gsm is. (I'm a noob )

Where is the right sub forum for metropcs?

I can move the thread over there if you like. And if you flashed d2lte you may need to set your APN. Look in settings/more(under data usage)/mobile networks/ access point names.

Thanks Madbat.

I have an APN setting that says MetroPCS DEFAULT and I currently have that on.
Under the name it says internet.metropcs

Isn't that for backing up and restoring your NV file? I can't do that because my imei and phone number is already messed up and I don't have a backup nv.

You didn't make a backup in recovery before you flashed a ROM? That's ROM flashing 101. I didn't read the whole thread but there looked to be some files that may help. And rule #1 is ALWAYS BACKUP. How else would you get back if you don't like the ROM or if something goes wrong?

As I have stated before, I am a noob and there were no warnings to backup your NV file on the ROM page or the YouTube video I found to learn to flash it. But, I did backup my efs using efs pro so is there any chance of that saving me?

Does the ROM have the option to choose the NV card option in settings mobile data CDMA subscription? check to see if you have anything there (This could be your problem changing the subscription.) Some roms have it hidden in an on and off switch but tapping the text lets you get to what you need the current rom I have has a mobile network setting that I have to tap the text to change the subscription.
Did you make a full backup in recovery? Every single ROM flashing instructions say to first make a full backup (nandroid). If you did then just boot to recovery and restore your backup. I don't have the metro s3 (I have a sprint mvno s3) so I won't be much more help than that. Check through the metro s3 forum here (you're in it) and read read read.

This is a direct quote from EarlyMon, a wise man,
First rule of rooting is to read, read, read and read some more.

Second rule is to go back and read again because you skipped one of the reads and deep down you know it.

Third rule is to ask questions first - to verify what you know and so you have buds who are ready to help you.

Fourth rule - follow instructions to the letter whether they make sense to you or not - because you've already asked from reading and if told to do it a certain way - don't deviate.

Fifth rule - don't panic.

Sixth rule - stop at the first sign of anything within the horizon of trouble and ask for help.

Seventh rule - when operating under the Sixth rule - don't panic.

Eighth rule - when not doing anything while awaiting help - don't do anything. Don't try anything. Just don't.

Ninth rule - when waiting for help, go back to First rule and respect the Eighth rule.

Tenth rule - profit.

What's going to make your fellow rooters nuts is the following post:

And if you think I'm making that post up, sadly I'm not.

The rules look simple compared to that.

And the more that the First through the Third rules are followed, the more we see -

Following my own advice, the biggest rooting problem I've ever really had is rooting with Windows and making sure that I have the right USB drivers.

If you see a need in rooting instructions for USB drivers, get that sorted first. In my opinion.

here is a link to the original post. Take a look to see the "annoying" user post that we all dislike.

I was looking around on this sub forum and found that a custom kernel can help. Before I flash that do you think I need to backup anything? Is backing up stuff only for Roms or for kernals too?

EDIT: nvm I'm gonna backup anyways

OMG I flashed a custom kernal and now I have bars!!! :) I'm close to having it all back but my mobile network state is disconnected and MIN unknown. I got my baseband back and my IMEI

Any idea on how to get the MIN and fix my mobile network state? Also, my prl says 0 and my phone number is unknown but I'm making progress :)

Progress! I changed ruim/Sim to NV and changed back and now I have LTE!! But now I get a new error saying no Sim or Sim error when I try to call... Currently looking this up

Got it. All I had to do was change ruim /Sim to NV and now I can call and use my LTE.

I had this problem for about 2 years and now I finally fixed it. I can't express how happy I am. o(≧∇≦o)

Thanks madbat for leading me in the right direction. (´∀`)
