didnt work,

i even did "PowerOn.ogg" and that didnt work.

im on carbonrom 1.3

do i need to set permissions a certain way?

Are you on carbonrom and got your sound work. I have those permissions set.

aosps have to have that enabled (only one ive ever seen was bamf). nuttmeg pointed to where it is on stock

u didnt mention are u trying to change the boot animation and if so whatever sound clip you will be using it has to be .ogg formate it wont work with mp3 or wav. if your just deleting then just delete it. if your rom didnt come with a boot animation and want to add one then whate ever sound clip you use make sure its .ogg

yep, the clip i tried using was converted to ogg.

carbonROM just doesnt allow for boot sounds i guess. real bummer.

i notice that when i click on properties for my poweron.ogg file it says owner is "root" and the group is "sdcard_rw". every other file in system/media/ui is root/root.

how do i change that?
