Does your phone use a Sim Card? If so maybe. If no Sim Card you can not use GSM as it need a GSM Sim Card to operate.

but the "SIM" in your metro is NOT a SIM, it is a UICC card that is DEVICE SPECIFIC and is for the 4G/LTE only...........if your phone is the r530m then it has a uicc card , if it is the t999m them it has a sim.

So your saying the cdma service is programmed into the phone and the 4g lte comes from the sim correct? If so is there a way to flash the t999 firmware and throw a sim in it from the t999 as well? I noticed online at metropcs.com that they dont even sell any cdma phones anymore including my s3 and i would like it to be on the more current gsm/lte service metro is shifting to.

Shouldve waited unfortunately..your best bet is to try and sell it on ebay as quickly as possible and dump it and buy the blue S3.
