MetroPCS customers in Southwest Florida left in the dark - WFTX-TV Fort Myers/Naples, FL
FORT MYERS, Fla. - It's tough to live without a working cell phone these days and Sunday MetroPCS cell phone customers in Southwest Florida found out the hard way.
A MetroPCS operator told FOX 4 over the phone that southern parts of Florida experienced an outage Sunday that lasted several hours.
A viewer alerted us to the problem after he said he went to a Cape Coral store because his phone stopped working only to find several others customers in the store were having the same problem and no one knew why.
According to the operator, the outage was due to work on upgrading the system.
We were told the outage was fixed late Sunday evening.
FOX 4 has reached out to the MetroPCS media relations team for official word but have yet to hear back.
