Help Mez msg randomly switches between MMS/SMS

Just got my Mez a few days ago - first smartphone - YEA! It is running Froyo. I understand that long messages will be changed to MMS, but while I am typing a message (long OR short) I get popup notification that it is switching to MMS then a few words later it will switch back to SMS. Is this something I push in error while typing ( I make a lot of errors!)? Has anyone noticed this (the switching, not my errors)?

Not sure about the messaging, but how come your Mes does not have 2.3.4 Gingerbread? Gingerbread turned the Mes into the phone that it was always meant to be. I'd advise getting to your USCC store and have the tech person install it onto your phone. It is pretty painless and will make a world of difference.

It came with Froyo & the store I got it at didn't have a tech. I'll get around to upgrading it - I've only had it for 5 days!

If you dont know of a store in the area that would have a tech to update your phone, you can always do it manually from the USCC website (www.uscellular.com/androidupdates). Just follow the step-by-step and you should be good. I do recommend backing up any contacts you have saved and/or any pictures/songs/ringtones etc. as you won't be able to recover them after the update (usually).

As for the messaging issue, I would update to Gingerbread and then try again. If you have the same problem, repost here and we'll try to help.

Download the update yourself and run it, it is pretty painless. Your SMS issues will more than likely go away after that.
