Help mi3 factory reset

3mw3

Lurker
I bought my first smartphone, xiaomi mi3, and I accidentally "cleared data" on my System Launcher app and it messed things up a bit (I no longer have a search screen, for example). Does factory reset mean it will return the phone to how it was when I first got it? Are there any risks? I'm not worried about losing apps or data I've put on the phone because they're minimal.

Thanks in advance

In answer to your question about the factory reset, yes, it will erase all your data on your device and return it to the state you first got it. ;)
But if you just cleared the data on your launcher app, why factory reset it? You can just add back what was lost as far as widgets, app shortcuts etc. Unless something else you haven't mentioned is acting wonky?

I tried adding back my search app, in fact it's still on my device because I see it in my apps file, but I don't know how to open it or return it to my home screen. Thanks for the reply!

I've been looking on the internet and have found nothing so far. What is a widget?
Simply put, a widget is kinda like a shortcut to an app, but with more info displayed on the screen than the app icon.
You can long press on the screen to add a widget (it will give you the option to do that and provide you with the available widgets...one of which could be the "search" widget).
