Micro Sim

Hi all. Anyone know what the deal is with this Micro Sim card I keep reading about? It's different than the Sim in my Inspire, correct?

The thing is, I want to try upgrading through Amazon.com, instead of buying at the AT&T store, but I'm worried about this Micro Sim. Do I have to actually cut it with a straight blade or something? I don't want to do that.

I just can't stand AT&T reps. I hate going in there.

It is best you get a micro SIM. I would't suggest cutting a SIM to convert it to a micro SIM.
I had to change to a mirco SIM when I bought the One X. If you compare there is a difference. The contacts on a micro SIM are a little smaller than the normal SIM.

Cheers.

I cut my sim with no problems, the contacts on my old sim were bigger than on my micro sim. I used a template printed out from a link on a youtube clip, taped the sim onto the template and used a craft knife and a straight edge to gradually cut through the plastic, the finished article left the contacts untouched. This is only a stop gap until my PAC code comes through and i can then switch to my micro sim, but like i said, it worked for me without any problems, and it was my first attempt...no practicing on any old sims.:)

Thanks. By the way, what's with your avatar? It's disturbing.

:D He's a character called Andy Pipkin, from the show "Little Britain" in the UK..........catch phrase "yeah i know" or "i want that one". Very funny character if you ever get to see it.:)

do you not get the option to get one with the phone if on a contract ?

going to get one with o2

you should do yes, however as I am upgrading I will end up having to wait for the phone to arrive, then give the carrier the new and old sim numbers, then wait for them to sort a pac code to transfer my number over, then wait 24 hours because of the poor way 3 mobile do this sort of thing...

Should come with a sim if you are on contract. T-mobile provide one in the box.
Even if you do go through Amazon, you should be able to get one from your network provider for free.

This is really can work? i don't think so this cutting the Sim card can work ? How to cut is there any dimensions to cut for some length ? are after cutting, when we inserting to mobile it can stable ?

I should be testing later (if all goes well and my sister is in to collect the delivery) so will let you know. basically the cutter trims (or punches, more like) off the excess plastic so its the right size to work in a micro sim phone.

The actual working of the sim are untouched, just the plastic thats removed.

but yeah il be sure to report back to you guys when ive done this.

edit - just got a txt to say the delivery had failed... nice one sis for failing to stay in for the hour she promised she would...

I will update tomorrow after work.
