So I recently acquired a moto x and I like it so far. One problem I've had is I could not get the microphone icon to show up on the google keyboard until today.
I've did a little searching and played with some settings and here's what I found. In the google keyboard settings (settings->language and input->google keyboard->settings) you need to have the "voice input key" box checked and the "block offensive words" box checked. This alone did not solve the issue. "Google voice typing" and make sure "block offensive words" box is checked.
This solved the issue for me. Now if I can refrain from swearing I'll be OK.
