Help Microphone Permission(Google Assistant)

I'm not using Google app or Google Assistant. But sometimes i do set timer using google assistant from home screen.

Anyways i have set mic permission for Google app in the App Info to "Ask every time"


As far as i remember when i would launch Google Assistant from the home screen it would first ask me "Allow Google to record audio? " and 3 options to choose from "While Using, Only This Time, Don't Allow"



I would always choose "Only this Time" so next time it will give the same option to choose from. But lately for some reason if i would launch Google assist it will instantly launch and listen for input.

I'm not really concerned about this. Anyone can reproduce following steps to verify this behavior?

It should ask "While Using, Only This Time, Don't Allow" if Google app in the App Info is set to "Ask every time"

It should. Is this misbehaviour intermittent (implying a bug) or persistent until you go into settings to change it (which would suggest the phone registered your touch as selecting "always")?

I can't confirm as I keep Assistant completely disabled myself, but I've never had this with other apps.

I see nothing out of the ordinary from your screenshots.
Thats typical app permissions being asked.

Hi, as far as i remember. If you allow " Only this time" and next time it should ask ask you the same question. But it won't.. it will open Google Assist without any prompt. Now, i suspect maybe there's some sort of a time frame for it. I did try it after one hour and didn't asked. It did ask however after the restart.

Maybe it's a question of whether the app has actually closed in the meantime?

Yep, I was thinking about that too. How come it will ask the first time and never again until phone restarts. Then I remembered that Device Care added Google app to deep sleep. I checked deep sleep list and google app werent there. Probably got removed after update. I manually added it to the list of deep sleep apps. Now after certain time of using google assist it will ask "While Using, Only This Time, Don't Allow"
