MicroSD card prices?

Anybody know when MicroSD card prices will drop? I'd really like to upgrade my 8GB card to a 32GB. When I was researching SD card prices before I bought my phone, apparently I was looking at standard SD cards, not MicroSD cards. 32GB MicroSD cards are about twice as expensive. Whoops.

And why are 16GB MicroSD cards SO much less expensive than 32GB??

32GB microSD cards are still fairly new. You always pay a premium for top-of-the-line and bleeding edge tech. There's no set date for price drops. Shop around. Try using Google Product Search but be sure to be careful in your vendor selection.

Amazon has a 32G card for $99.
Verizon has it for the same price, but if you get an employee discount thru your employer you get 25% off accessories.

You are getting twice what you are getting with a 16 gig card, for starters. But it is more than twice as expensive to double the memory (talking manufacturing costs). Right now that is the upper limit of what is produced/sold commercially. This is always going to be the case. The top end isn't necessarily going to share the same incremental price increases as the lower end tech.

As far as when they are dropping? They drop over time. I imagine the next "large" drop will come when something larger than 32gb hits the mainstream.

That's what I think is the case too. I found it to be amazing that (about six months ago) I could get a 16 GB microSD for about $20, but a 32 GB costed almost $150!

Needless to say, I stuck with the 16 GB.
