Microsoft and Barnes & Noble form a new Nook company

Knocks

Newbie
Barnes & Noble just received $300 million from Microsoft as part of a new joint venture between the companies, Nook Media LLC (link). Microsoft will now own 17% of Barnes & Noble, and a new Nook app for Windows 8 is coming out soon.

Just great. B&N is a PITA with its marketing to begin with. You can't buy anything in the store without them trying to push that stupid savings card on you. More crap for Windows to bundle into computers.

If it keeps brick and mortar book and magazine stores on the face of the planet, I'm for it. Fat chance that I'd switch to a MS-Nook though.

Historically, a partnership with Microsoft has been the kiss of death for companies. This could actually be the beginning of the end of Barnes and Noble.
