Ive been useing the nexus one with cm7 and dont feel like spending alot again on a phone so i have a few questions...

will i be able to root the phone and install a custom rom

if so... with the custom rom can i install apps that arnt from the market

with there new tethering option, would a custom rom allow me to use tethering without having to pay the extra tethering fee?

Generally, this depends on the phone, not the carrier. With a Captivate, the answer to all of the above is yes. Time will tell on the Inspire and Altrix and others.
