"Missed call from (Blocked) {caller name}"

PeteCress

Samsung N7000.

I no longer get rings when people call me. They always ring down to voice mail and the N7000 shows "Missed call from (Blocked)" plus caller's name from the Contacts app briefly at the top of the screen.

Ringer volume is maxed, and I am able to call out with no problems.

Had CallControl 3.1.16.4 installed and was suspecting it as the cause; but I uninstalled it and the problem persisted. Rebooted and the calls kept going to voice mail, but the "Missed call from (Blocked)..." notification seems to have gone away.

Anybody been here?

Sounds like a network problem. It always was for me with Sprint. Maybe it's a problem with a tower near you or new congestion in your area.

Not sure about Call Control, but a lot of these apps are just front ends to access existing Android features. Uninstalling them doesn't reverse the changes. You might see if call blocking is still enabled somehow.

That was my initial suspicion, but I have been unable to find any such settings. They're probably there somewhere... but I'm not seeing them at the moment.

Open the dialer then go to settings>call settings>call forwarding and make sure "Always Forward" is set to disabled. If it lists a number then it's going to send all incoming calls to that number and never ring your phone.

Might be a clue here: Call Forwarding.Voice call.Always forward was (and always was...) set to Disabled, but the first time I checked it, I got something like "Network or storage error" - but now, at a different location, it comes up without the error.

Then I started changing Forward when busy, ....unanswered, and ...unreachable from my voicemail number to "Disabled", but it threw "Error Unexpected response from network" followed by "Unable to deactivate call diverting when busy. Unsupported by operator"

So maybe we are back to something with the provider (tMobile prepaid).

Call Forwarding must be set to 'Disabled' to avoid network errors because as a prepaid customer you don't get call forwarding service. This is true for almost all service providers, not just T-Mobile. It's one of the perks for being postpaid.
