Help Missed calls

Is there an any better display achievable for missed calls than the default tiny red cross (?) in the notification bar?

I defintely don't want to be reminded "every now and then about missed calls". I want reliability, consistency, efficiency and effectiveness

Hopefully there's a quick solution to displaying missed calls persistently, and with high visibility, without having to go through a series of hurdles and commitments first (Motoblur accounts, cellular provider plans, market place offerings, yadayada).
