Missing Bass through headphone jack

I just upgraded from a Moto Atrix. I am use to listening to Pandora on my long drive home by plugging the headphone jack into my car's stereo. Sound was great.

Now I have a Samsung S3 and love the phone, but when listening to Pandora in the same way as before there is almost no bass compared to before. Almost like all of the low ends are missing.

Is there a setting that will boost bass for the headset, or an equilizer somewhere (please I don't want to root the phone just yet).

Thanks!

Is Pandora set to stream at the highest quality?

Is your 3.5mm plug inserted all of the way in?

Have you tested with a decent set of headphones or other 3.5mm cable?

Same thing I thought after coming from a Droid X. But then again, the dx had audio effect settings that I had set to bass punch.

Luckily I mostly use paid winamp, which has an equalizer. Sounds about as good as my dx did.

Would be a good idea to invest in better headphones. EQing is not the best way to overcome those problems.

The plug is in all the way. Strange thing is when I listen to music (through the player which does have an equilizer in it) the sound is great. But streaming seems to be poor. I do have the quality maxed in Pandora, that did not make much difference.

If I stream through my old phone, same Pandora account, the sound is great. Plug back into the Samsung and it is very flat and missing most of the bass.

Any other suggestions?

So you are using Pandora and it's crappy super compressed file system, I use these two on their premium plan "both are owned by the same company and the premium plan covers both apps", worth every red cent 128K ACC with no commercials, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.audioaddict.di

This one is also very good, https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.muziicllc.muziic

On another note, my S3 sounds fine, you might want to try this app, it adds different EQ setting for streaming music apps https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smartandroidapps.equalizer
