Missing Icons on Galaxy S7 android 6.0.1

I am a new android user with a Samsung Galaxy S7 using android 6.0.1. I installed several apps including gmail and OneNote. The icons for these have two and a few others but not all have disappeared probably because of something I have done. I can see them if I search for them in the apps search and can launch them from there. If I search for them in play store I get an option to uninstall which suggests to me they are somewhere but I cannot find how to return them to the apps or main screens. Any help would be welcomed. Thanks

Tried that but it doesn't work. If the icons were in the apps pages long press works fine but when I select search from the apps page I see the 'missing' gmail and onenote icons but a long press does nothing. The questions remains how can I retrieve them back to the apps or other screen!!!

Cheers. What is a launcher... app program?? and/or how would you go about finding it? A search doesn't return anything for the word launcher!!

Set as Touchwiz easy home. It had been set as Touchwiz home but when I couldn't control the apps as outlined previously I changed it to easy home and could then see and control them so have left it at that setting for the moment.

TouchWiz Home and TouchWiz Easy home are launchers. You must have seen the difference in the UI. The before mentioned two launchers are from Samsung sometimes liked and sometimes not liked by many people, so they download another launcher from the play store to make their phone look good.
TouchWiz Home should not have problems usually because they block their users from making much changes. You could try downloading a launcher from play store to see if your icons are visible in that.

You could also try going to the app drawer>select the three dot option>and check if you have asked the launcher to hide some of your apps.
