MMS not working when traveling

cooldood

Newbie
Sorry if this is in the wrong group but I could not find general questions forum. URGH

Anyway I am traveling to Denmark from USA now my MMS stopped working. I tried mobile data on and off

Carrier is Verizon and using Textra Samsung S7 Edge Running Marshmallow

PLEASE HELP I am ready to throw this thing into the ocean

Does your Verizon plan include data roaming in Denmark? If it doesn't that may be the reason.

Have you tried WiFi? Textra can send MMS over WiFi on Sprint, not sure if that works on Verizon but worth a try. :)

Check the data roaming on/off setting, which is separate to the mobile data on/off setting. It's off by default, and usually gives a warning about possible data roaming charges if you enable it. Even though you might not be using the internet, if it doesn't have cellular data enabled, it can't send or receive MMS. You will have to make sure that nothing is trying to use cellular data if it is enabled, otherwise might be expensive.

Well I found the answer after dbeing on tech support forever with Verizon

It is the dialing plan. I have to add +1 to the phone number everytime I mms anyone. What an absolute POS answer, I can no longer reply to text or use a contact. Guess I am back to iPhone as soon as possible. I just cant believe this is the "solution" to the MMS problem. So POed right I could kick a kitten. I travel 3 weeks per month and this is not acceptable, i hate apple but I guess imessage is the solution for me.

That sounds about right, if you're not actually in the USA, +1 being the international dialling prefix for North America for when overseas, including SMS and MMS. So you might have to dial or edit your contact numbers accordingly, e.g. "123-456-7890" to "+1 123-456-7890"

Apple iMessage might be OK, as long as all your contacts all have iPhones, with it being proprietary and Apple only. I have iMessage on my Macbook, can't use it with my Oppo phone though. And iMessage messaging issues with non-Apple devices, is a bit of a FAQ on here.
