MMS or SMS messages also producing emails?

Hello all.
I noticed recently on my new phone, (Xiaomi Mi Mix 2) that messages I was sending via textra, were also producing emails between me and another person, and I'd like to keep my emails in my email and my SMS or MMS (which one am I using? I don't know) separate.
I just want to text without getting email copies of it, or maybe stop getting emails in my text essenger?

Any ideas?

Does this just happen with one person or with everyone?

Do you have an app called SMS Backup+ installed? That backs up messages by copying them to your Gmail account, but it should copy them directly into a separate folder on the account rather than into your inbox.

It has only happened one to me on my new Xiaomi phone today, but the original instance occurred with the same person. It was like it was exporting each text reply into another gmail message in Gmail. I cannot find an app called SMS backup.
