Mo phone mo problems (can't save photo from mms)

My girlfriend bought he an HTC wildfire as a gift but she might as well have taken a dump in my hand. It's been nothing but problems.
The most recent problem is the inability to save photo attachments from text messages.
Here's the situation:
I got a message with an attachment.
I wanted to save the picture.
I open the attachment and clicked the icon on the bottom right hand side of the screen.
I selected the picture so that a green arrow is next to it.
It comes up with a "unable to save attachment" message.

People keep saying "Touch and hold the screen".
I do it and nothing happens.

People say "get the save MMS app"
Why should i have to pay money for an app to save a photo?

Please help me before i spontaneously combust from rage. :mad::eek:
 
try using Handcent SMS. Its free and will allow you to save everything. Although I dont understand why long-pressing the picture doesnt allow you to save it, it should work.
 
Thanks for the replies. My girlfriend (poor thing) found a way to save them. I forward the message to my own phone then save it.
She, and numerous others, told me to get the free "Save mms" app but when i do a search in the market the only "save mms" app that comes up costs $1.50. My girlfriend says she can find one on her phone that is free but when i search i can't find the free one. :confused:
