Mobile Charging?

Lurker
I planned a trip for my and my gf from Paris, Texas to Dallas, Texas.

The phone was fully charged using the 110v wall charger. I put the phone in the car dock, and it showed it was charging. I used Navigation to get directions from Paris (Texas) to the hotel. The trip was about 2 hours long. The only other app that was running was Weatherbug Elite, and the update time is set to 4 hours.

Strange thing is, by the time we got into Dallas, the battery level was 30%

Is the VZW car charger not able to keep up with the charging requirements when using GPS Navigation?

If that is the case a 6 hour trip would require a real GPS and I might as well go back to a Blackberry.

Thoughts/Ideas/Suggestions?

my phone seems to gain JUST OVER what my gps eats. so while it will never go dead, it wont have much charge if pulled right after gps is turned off

The Navigation definitely FRIES the battery. And, the mobile chargers I've always used never really give it a ton of juice. As EmoTony does, I expect while plugged in and using such services that the mobile "charger" will just stave off a dying battery.

Huh, I never noticed any difference between charging with nav on and charging without. I guess it's possible that the Eris nav doesn't eat nearly the battery that the X or Inc does, or maybe the chargers are different. I'm still using my Moto Razr's car charger.

Same for me word for word (Eris/razr charger). I think the Razr charger puts out 800 mAh which a good amount.
