I've been with T-mobile for less than 2 months. 2 weeks after starting with them I rcvd a message saying that my 500MB of mobile hot spot was used up. I've never used the hotspot! I'm not even running a rooted rom so it's a bit hard to accidentally turn on. I called and spoke to a CSR and was told not to worry about it if I hadn't used it. That sometimes the phone gave incorrect notifications.
Today I clicked on a link to download a file from Sendspace and was taken to a webpage that said I had used up all my available hotspot and to call this phone number to get more or if there was an error. So I began wasting my breath to a CSR, got to a supervisor, who actually did listen, then was placed on hold so she could talk to her IT department.
I advised that I hadn't even created a password for the hotspot. It prompts you to do that as soon as you try and turn the feature on. Their IT department tried telling me that even if no password was created people could 'steal' my mobile hotspot.
I advised that "If someone could steal my mobile hotspot without the feature even being turned on than Andriod 4.1.2 had a serious security leak. Since it's not even a new version, that means that it's been undetected for this long?"
As soon as I started talking about security leaks the lady back pedaled and then asked why it even mattered since I wasn't using the service. I told her that I was paying for this feature and if I ever was in a position where I needed to use the service, I would be unable to actually use what I was paying for. I actually do use Hotspot when traveling, but haven't had the need yet.
So I was put on hold again and then was offered another plan that had unlimited hotspot for the same price I am paying now? That seemed to good to be true... I did get a text saying my plan had changed. Is it possible for T-mobile to fix my issue like that? I'm a little nervous since this seems like a totally awesome fix... To good to be true.
Any idea why they were saying I was using my mobile hotspot when it's not even turned on?
