Mobile Hotspot w/Chromecast Ultra

Trying to set up my CU with Samsung Galaxy j7 and TV. Everything going fine until I get this: Could not connect to your Chromecast Ultra. Make sure your Chromecast Ultra is nearby.
It's only about 8' away from my phone. I'm using 'Mobile hotspot and tethering'. This is included in my unlimited plan with MetroPCS. Could someone please help. TIA.

Chromcast need WLAN. Switching off 'Mobile hotspot and tethering' may help.

Yes, that is true. But you can try. Tethering is also possible via Bluetooth and USB-Cable.

Tried bluetooth 'Unable to connect to...'
Tried wifi...says connected but when I try to connect with Home app TV says 'Connecting to network ....so and so' and then says 'Can't find network...so and so'

You are right. You first have to have a WLAN network running. The Chromcast App will then search and find a stick nearby and program it to join your local net.

I did not try this with thethering. Maybe you have to have a independent network with DHCP (that is standard with Wifi hotspots).

The problem is: The chromstick and the phone need to be in the same WLAN network. At the beginning the stick knows nothing about network and the APP tells the stick (with a temporarily direct connection) what network to join, what password to use and which IP address. Then the mobile and the stick can connect and stream.
