Help Mobile internet issues

Having an issue with the Mobile Internet on my Samsung. I put it to charge and when I come back a few hours later it shows no signs of being connected to the internet, no little 3g or even E symbol. I've downloaded an update to a data counter widget, but that's all I can think of that I did out of the ordinary with my phone. I contacted my provider, they don't know of any disturbances in the network. I shut down and rebooted the phone, nothing. I toggled airplane mode, nothing, and yes, I'm sure airplane mode is off.

I realise I'm being pretty vague here but I have no real clue what happened, really.

Try resetting the APN settings..
Or delete the settings completely and get them again from your operator. Then reboot your phone.
