Mono headsets

Why is it so hard to find a good quality, durable, loud, mono 3.5mm headset?

This is the best I've found so far:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-3-5mm-M...uetooth_Wireless_Products&hash=item45ed15c0b3

But even that one breaks every 1-2 months. Furthermore, I usually order 2-3 of these at a time, and some are nice and loud, some are not. Some break in 2 weeks, some last 3 months. I don't get it.

Surely there's gotta be a better one out there? Recommendations guys?

)The link you gave is bad.)If you're talking about the ones with the mics (hands-free devices), they come in 2 classes - cheap and good.

Cheap ones (the ones that sell for about $10) wholesale for a buck or less, and in this case you really get what you pay for.

Plantronics and Jabra make "middle-of-the-road" devices - if you handle them carefully they'll last for years. They're in the $30-$50 range.

If you want something that you can toss into the back of an SUV and use it 6 months later after the kids have been through the vehicle, you're looking for something on the order of a government quality wired earwig - look in "spy-type" shops, but bring your credit card.

OTOH, if you want a headset that will last a long time, give you good quality audio and not require a second mortgage, both Motorola and Jabra make excellent Bluetooth devices. I can't give you exact ages, but neither my old Motorola or my old Jabra are even made any more, and I still use them all the time. I'm guessing 5 years or more for each one. (You just have to keep them charged every few months if you're not going to use them for a while.)

This is the category I'm interested in. But I do want wired, with only an earbud -- minimalist. Can you offer a link to a specific one?

And thanks, I fixed the link, see example of the type I'm looking for there. I'm totally willing to pay for quality, but I still would prefer a simple minimalist one like the type the link leads to.

You're going to have a very hard time finding mono bud with in-line remote control. Can't think of any big name company that makes one. As you have seen, every new android phone comes with stereo in-ear headset with in-line remote/mic. the only mono ones, for business use, are wireless. In theory, you can get $3 stereo earbud with in-line control and maybe cut off one side? :) Of course, I wouldn't recommend to do that with $50 ones.

That is a GREAT idea! Which one you recommend?

To be honest, I wouldn't recommend getting an expensive headset and cutting one earbud off :)

Just a quick search on ebay for US sellers of headphones for your phone came up with: droid dna headphones | eBay

Those are $3-$4 headphones you can sacrifice without a problem.

Maybe you can also search on dx.com to find some other headphones? Their Aiwei stuff is higher quality than generic headphones. I reviewed a few here: http://androidforums.com/android-accessories/765018-review-awei-in-ear-headphones-w-lots-pics.html - the second one, ES900i has a surprisingly high quality (the sound and the built), and in-line remote clicker and mic that did a good job. Maybe search on ebay to see if anybody selling ES900i localy?
