Monthly 4G phone for ~300$?

Im about to switch to T Mobile in a few weeks but I need to buy a phone first. Coming from a VM motorola triumph, I have yet to experience a strong android phone. I was hoping to get a somewhat high end phone for about 300 bucks, but I would like some feedback on those of you that have had the Galaxy Nexus, GS2, Evo 4g and the likes. thanks!

galaxy nexus/sg3/ or nexus 4 if u can get ur paws on it i wouldnt consider anything else atm for tmobile unless your getting another pentaband phone

If you are talking new, the Nexus 4 at $300 is an excellent choice.

T-Mobile did have a $100 airtime card with the Galaxy Blaze 4G, making it basically $200 (assuming you'd have paid for $100 worth of airtime eventually anyway). They seem to have sold out though. It is a dual-core HSPA+ 42 capable phone.

Used, there are tons of choices at tons of price points. The HTC Amaze, SII, GNex, and others are all nice phones with ICS or greater. There are plenty of others as well.

I'd say the Nexus 4, if you can wait for Google to get them back in stock. The Nexus 4 has the advantage that it works on AT&T, as well. Another solid choice would be the Samsung Galaxy SII for $330 from Walmart (online or in stores), which includes a $30 T-Mobile prepaid card.
