Help Moto 360 can't connect to Internet

I'm trying to set up my Moto 360 but I keep getting an error "Make sure that your phone has an Internet connection". When I swipe to the right I get a big green refresh button.

I tried everything that was recommended on the google support page (updated apps, restarted devices, etc.) but the problem persists.

I'm using a Nexus 5 running Android 4.4.4.

I do have a theory on why I might be having this problem.. I ordered the watch from the US and I'm currently in the UK. Would having a UK IP address be a problem? Also, the way I have internet set up on my phone is through a hotspoted University network connection. The internet on my phone works great though!

Also, I do have my Moto 360 fully charged, I've herd of similar problems if the battery gets too low.

Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks in advance!

I encountered the exact same message when I was setting up the watch when it arrived yesterday I went to the help page indicated on the watch for possible solutions and I followed the suggestion to reboot the watch. After that, everything was a breeze. I noticed though that my Note 3 was draining almost 10% per hour and the watch at around 6% every hour. Something didn't seem right and the phone was abnormally warm. However after I rebooted the phone after changing batteries, the phone went back to draining at around 3% per hour with GPRS on and the watch at around 4% every hour.

Bliss!

The one voice command that can be done without internet connection is "call ______"

.... At least it works on phone, probably not on the watch.

I think you'll get a similar error even if you're trying to issue voice commands on your phone via Google Now. Although if memory serves there's a setting to allow for off line commands. I'd have to look in my settings again.
