Moto G LTE

I just activated the Moto G for my wife on T Mobile. I bought her the US GSM version which the specs said it had a 1700mhz radio (Which T Mobile uses for LTE), however I cant get more than 3G with the phone when my phone (Nexus 5) in the same location gets LTE. Is this phone capable of LTE? Is the 1700mhz radio a lie?

It doesn't have LTE. The 1700MHz is for picking up HSPA+21

The 1700MHz radio isn't a lie, but T-Mobile runs both it's HSPA and LTE on that frequency. The Moto G doesn't have an LTE compatible radio, which is why you're not picking up LTE.
