Help Moto G screen flickers then dies

My new Moto G got wet, and everything seemed fine. However, because I thought that powering off the device was a good idea in such a circumstance, I did. Now the phone turns on, but the screen will flicker once when booting up and a couple of times after it's turned on. Other than this, everything works. If the screen would stay on for more than a few flickers every now and then I would be set. Any suggestions? I'm curious if the phone can be saved as the screen works enough to flicker.

You can try putting the phone in rice. But from the sounds of it then phone is cooked

Update: everything works on the phone except the backlight for the screen. I can see the screen if I hold the phone just right, but everything is really really dim.
